The fruit possesses stimulant, antispasmodic and carminative properties and is used traditionally as an essential remedial agent for flatulence, atonic dyspepsia, diarrhoea, galactagogue, abdominal tumours, abdominal pains, piles, bronchial problems, loss of appetite, amenorrhoea and amenorrhoea asthma.
